Chatham has Wildland Fire Protection and Preparedness Plans for Goose Pond Complex and Town Forest. These plans were written in order to mitigate wildfire impacts on town owned lands, increase citizen awareness, firefighter and public safety. The Town of Chatham has a Wildfire Management Team comprised of the Fire, Water & Sewer ,Health, Park & Recreation and Public Works Departments. The Team is responsible for presenting the plans to the public, requesting approval of the plans by Selectmen and identifying and completing action items in the wildland fire plans. Public Education
A public meeting was held on January 21, 2010. Bill Clark, Director of the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Service, Dave Crary of the National Park Service and Joel Carlson, a certified Forester presented at the meeting. Written comments on the plans will be accepted until February 19, 2010.
