Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board, (S.O.R.B.), has the responsibility of the registration and classification of sex offenders pursuant to M.G.L. c. 6 sec. 178C through 178p. It is the Chatham Police Department’s responsibility that when a Chatham resident is classified as a “Level 3” Sex Offender. According to the S.O.R.B. a Level 3 offender is defined: “..an individual is at a high risk to reoffend and that the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a substantial public safety interest is served by active
community notification”.
